The six members of ST☆RISH, who have made their shocking idol debut, and Nanami Haruka, who has just begun her career as a composer, have advanced to Saotome Academy's master course. As they continue their lessons in earnest to learn how to be top idols and composers, they join Shining Agency and begin to work as entertainers. But before that, some senpai idols and strange foreign idols with a few odd habits stand before them, and they end up getting dragged into the race for a mysterious "Newcomer Award."
Episode One: Poison Kiss
Having watched the first season of Uta no Prince Sama, I was completely excited that there was going to be a second season. I love the art, the characters, and the beautiful music that this anime series possesses. What I didn't expect when starting season 2, was that it would be even better than the first season.
We meet up again with Haruka, and the gang of STARISH as they debut into the professional singing world. This time they're taking the Master Course, and are living under the same roof! Introduced are a new set of characters, the elite group called Poison Kiss that are at the Master Course to help STARISH as mentors. Most of them act like jerks though, and bully the newbies, as they are now roomed together.
I like where the plot is going, and there's also this mysterious new goodlooking guy who looks like he came from Aladdin. Last season Otokya was my favorite, but I have a feeling that Cecil will replace him with this new season.
The only bad things I can really say about this so far is that I didn't like the ending concert as much as the first seasons, and I felt like they didn't quite capture the same atmosphere for the anime as last season.
I'm really pumped for this series, and can't wait to see how Poison Kiss and STARISH get along. Will definitely follow this show the entire season.
The Human Galactic Alliance has been constantly fighting for its survival against a grotesque race of beings called "Hidiaazu." During an intense battle, the young lieutenant Redo and his humanoid mobile weapon Chamber are swallowed up into a distortion of time and space. Waking from his artificially induced hibernation, Redo realizes that he has arrived on Earth, the planet on the lost frontier. With no knowledge of the planet's history or culture, he is forced to live alongside Amy, a 15-year-old girl who serves as a messenger aboard the Gargantia fleet.
Episode One: Castaway
One of the three anime that I have seen so far for the Spring season, Suisei no Gargantia is a surprising gem of a show that has beautiful animation. At first I wasn't sure if I'd like it, since the beginning was a little confusing and fast paced, but it ended up being really good!
The main character is named Ledo, and he is a pilot in the Galactic Alliance. From the beginning you can tell that he is good at his job, which is killing. He rarely displays a full emotion, and after a hard battle in space, he is left behind by his ship and transported with his robot to Earth. He is asleep six months, and during that time the strange inhabitants have found his robot and are trying to take it apart as "treasure". He awakens, and takes a young girl named Amy hostage. This is when the episode really gets good, at least to me.
There's some humor mixed in with the action, and even though we didn't get to know any of the characters that much, they seem very likeable. Personally I haven't watched that many mecha animes, so this seems like an original plot to me. I seriously think the art is simply amazing, and it looks to be a great series that is upcoming in this Spring season. The only thing I can say I didn't like based off of the first episode was the fast paced beginning, and it was confusing as I said before. All in all a great kick off episode!
A team of girls with zero experience in manga editing are off and running toward their dream of creating the biggest manga magazine in Japan! They seem to do nothing but run into problems and failures...
This anime began airing in the Winter of 2013, and is thirteen episodes long. I generally don't watch anime that are under the standard 24 minutes long, but this one caught my eye even though it was just five minutes long. It was produced by Dogakobo and Earth Star Entertainment, who have also done Natsuyuki Rendezvous, the currently airing Majestic Prince, and Seiken no Blacksmith, which are all pretty good anime that I've seen.
I found the characters to be refreshing, and easy to relate to. The head editor was completely crazy, while the one with glasses seemed normal (most of the time). The comedy was pretty good, and had me laughing at alot of parts. Also, the opening was pretty catchy, and although I liked the animation and the characters, I felt it lacked development a little bit. I'm a scrooge for animation so this is mostly why I don't watch short anime, because their quality of animation is generally lower.
This plot has already been done by Bakuman, even though Mangirl! is a little different. My favorite episode was probably where they went to the comic store and they were sold out. The mangaka was also pretty funny when she was starving and her apartment was filled with trash because her assistant was on vacation. I do feel like this anime shows what it's like to be a manga editor and mangaka. It could be considered almost educational even, overlooking the tangents that the crazy characters go off on all the time.
A special is scheduled to air May 24th, for episode 14. I'll definitely be looking forward to watching these crazy characters after their success in the manga world.
